Abhimanyu’s arc in Kehne Ko Humsafar Hain is simply beautiful: Sayush Sanjay Nayyar

Sayush Sanjay Nayyar the young and talented actor has surely made a mark for himself amidst the stalwart actors in ALTBalaji’s popular series Kehne Ko Humsafar Hain.

Sayush who came across as the ultimate lover boy Abhi in Season 2 gets into a more mature persona in Season 3 as the husband of Poonam (Gurdeep Kohli).

In an exclusive conversation with IWMBuzz.com, Sayush says, “Abhimanyu is the only white character in Kehne Ko Humsafar Hain. His character has to do everything politically right. Abhi is a mature guy in this whole amalgamation, who does not fall into all these relationship problems. I am hoping that this role and character falls in my favour too.”

Talking about the transition of being seen as a youngster falling for a woman 10 years elder, to marrying her in Season 3, Sayush says, “Yes, Abhi has matured up in a bigger way in Season 3. He had real feelings of love for Poonam in Season 2 and this is only a carry-forward for him in Season 3. He is now part of this whole family wherein all relationships are disturbed. Abhi is trying to handle things in his own way, and trying to be involved in the entire family’s problems. His relationship is mainly with Poonam and then it amalgamates to the whole family. It has been fun to play Abhi in this season. Last time it was more of him only with Poonam. Now with him being involved in Poonam’s family complications, all has been really nice.”

On the growth that his character has had, Sayush Sanjay Nayyar says, “I talked to Jaya Mam (Jaya Misra the Writer on the series) after the end of last season. I told her that I have been very happy playing Abhimanyu. Even when he has fallen for an older woman, there had to be a kind of maturity in him. He never fell for Poonam with the intention of taking her to bed. So it was a very well-written second season and in the third, the twists and turns have been awesome. My character’s arc is beautiful. In the age that I am in real life, playing this mature guy does not come naturally to me. So I had to think a lot and bring it into execution. There has always been a conflict between Sayush and Abhimanyu and I had to address it well and play the role. Abhijit Da our Director handled it very beautifully and above all, the scenes have been so well-written, that I did not have any inhibitions in playing what I played. Abhi has grown with times and with the people around him.”

Ask him about how Poonam and Abhi’s relationship in Season 3 will unfold and he states, “I am actually keeping my fingers crossed now (smiles). I have shot for the future episodes, but I cannot tell anything. I am actually tense at the moment and will wait for audiences’ reactions.”

Sayush Sanjay Nayyar who is from Punjab is from a business background and never wanted to be an actor. However, destiny made him face the camera. “I did modelling to begin with and then web-series happened. I made a conscious decision to not get into TV when I started off. Now I want to do TV for sure. Gurdip Mam, Ronit Sir have all pushed me to take up TV projects. Let’s see how it goes. I have surely convinced myself to look for TV offers as of now.”

Sayush has been part of web-series Spotlight 2, Ready to Mingle, and a negative character in Hotel Heartbreak. “I have never gotten the girl in my earlier projects. And I am happy that I have got my girl here in Kehne Ko Humsafar Hain (smiles). As for TV, I have convinced myself that it is the right way to go about now. Initially I wanted to try out different things. Now I want to maintain the arc of staying in a character for more than a year.”

“As of now, I am happy to be playing the too-good-to-be-true character of Abhimanyu (laughs)”, Says Sayush Sanjay Nayyar before signing off.
