YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani recently opened up about his struggles with depression and isolation following a tough breakup, sharing his experience on Shantanu Parasher’s podcast. The online content creator, known for his comedy sketches and large following, revealed that he went through a challenging period between March 2022 and June 2023, during which he felt deeply disconnected from his loved ones and his professional life.
Ashish described how the emotional toll of his breakup led him to withdraw from everyone around him, including his family. “I was in immense pain and had cut myself out from everyone,” he shared. Even in the close quarters of his family home, Ashish found himself unable to connect with his parents or his sister, Muskaan. Despite living under the same roof, he often avoided interaction with them, retreating into his own world.
According to Ashish, friends and family noticed his absence, both physically and emotionally. They repeatedly reached out to him, urging him to return to his usual self and rejoin the world outside. However, Ashish admitted he was not in the mental space to respond. Even his closest friends noticed the change. One of them, fellow YouTuber Bhuvan Bam, eventually became a source of support that helped Ashish find his way through the struggle.
Ashish recalled how Bhuvan visited him during this time and, in an unexpected moment, he found himself opening up. While initially expressing happiness for Bhuvan’s career success, he soon found himself confiding in his friend about his own pain, eventually breaking down in tears. In response, Bhuvan listened calmly and offered heartfelt advice. He encouraged Ashish to take time to heal and reminded him of the support and love he still had from his family.
“Bhuvan sat me down and explained… I need to value what I have in my life,” Ashish said. This conversation became a turning point. With Bhuvan’s encouragement, Ashish gradually started to reconnect with his family and friends, re-engaging with the people who mattered most.
Toward the end of the podcast, Ashish also addressed his fans, assuring them that he has been actively working on himself. His intention was to let them know that, while he faced a difficult phase, he is now moving forward and is in a better mental space.
