When it comes to the list of versatile actors with charming looks, one name we cannot miss is Barun Sobti. He is one actor who can play any role with ease and make us fall in love with him over and over again. He became a household name for his role as Arnav in Star Plus show Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon.
This heartthrob has millions of fans, all because of his great acting and captivating looks. Barun is currently exploring the web world. He is seen playing the character of Nikhil Nair in a new web series Asur on Voot Select. Asur is a unique crime thriller that pits two opposing worlds against each other, the less explored, intricate world of forensic science and the deep mysticism of Indian Mythology. Asur will shine a light on everyone’s dark side.
In an exclusive conversation with IWMBuzz.com, Barun speaks about his new web series Asur on Voot Select, daughter Sifat, TV comeback plans and more… Excerpts
Congratulations on the new web series, what attracted you to sign Asur?
I feel like such intense subjects are not dealt with correctly with respect to the psychology of the characters and the people who are riding it. When for the first time I was called for the series by the producer, he explained to me the subject in a one-liner and I was not very sure about it. To be honest, this type of content doesn’t happen right in our country with respect to writing. However, when I heard about the first episode, there were no reasons to say no to it.
The series Asur has a tagline ‘welcome to your dark side’, so what is Barun Sobti’s dark side?
Well, I don’t know but I think I am getting lazier.
How was your bond and experience working with the ensemble cast?
I will be honest, it was pretty professional. There was definitely a lot of laughter but it was hectic shoot and extremely intense. The great thing was that everyone was really good at their job. It was kind of professionally making easier for all. Majority, we all were like-minded people and hence that made it easier.
On the personal front, how are you embracing fatherhood?
I am not an overly optimistic or an emotional person but I am having a great time. Yes, I am also changing diapers and enjoying fatherhood. The best memory is when she smiles at me every time. When I wake up and go to see her, she smiles and that makes my day.
When will fans be able to see you back on TV?
I would love to do something good which comes my way but I can’t write. So, anytime, anything good comes up, I would be back on TV screens. I would love to do a relationship based drama, which is not too dramatic. Ideally, it would be great if the story is finite. This is because you’re writing part is done so your idea of changing the writing based on the ratings will never be going to happen hence that would be great.
Any final message for viewers…
I would want audiences to watch Asur on Voot Select as it would be worth their money. It is the best that I have done in my career so far. Hence, I would want them to enjoy it.
Good luck, Barun!
