In April 2019, YouTube, Google’s video sharing website, announced at its annual flagship event that India is one of the largest and fastest growing audiences in the world. Indians account for 265 million active monthly users on YouTube. In fact, in India, YouTube has become the medium where anyone with a good camera, internet connection, and decent content can go and become famous. This is probably because videos attract far more viewers than books.
Out of the 265 active monthly YouTube users, almost 3 million users can be on Angry Prash’s YouTube channel. The first of his kind, this YouTuber has managed to build this rather impressive following without even showing his face on the screen! 23-year-old Angry Prash is actually Prashant Sharma from Mumbai who has gained his followers by creating animated videos and voicing them himself.
He has a distinctive identity on YouTube and beyond. Angry Prash has never revealed his face in any video, let alone any kinds of interviews. Shocked yet? Well, to shock you even further, the engineering dropout hasn’t shared a single picture of himself even on his own Instagram profile!
Very few people know that he started out on YouTube by sharing tutorial videos of Computer Aided Designs (CAD) which were soon taken down by YouTube owing to copyright infringement reports. His current videos are created using MS-Paint and recorded and edited using Vegas Pro. Yet another reason why his videos are such a hit with the masses is that he doesn’t just go on rants about the issues bothering him. He shares his opinions and encourages people to act on making the world a better place. For instance, Angry Prash asked his followers to plant a tree and share an image with the hashtag #OneTreeChallenge.
Watch these videos by Angry Prash to know why he’s managed to create quite a stir in the digital space.
