Thinking artist Naveen Kasturia, who played the title role of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in the Alt Balaji web series, Bose Dead/Alive, admits that doing this historical did not change his career graph as he expected it to.
“I am still known as the TVF Pitchers guy. Agreed there was a buzz for a month or so but soon things fizzled out. I guess eventually not many people ended up watching it. Maybe YouTube shows have much more connect. Also I guess my character was not run of the mill. Having said that, I did hear that many industry bigwigs saw and appreciated my work, example Mohit Suri. But possibly because I don’t move in their circles, I could not benefit much out of it.”
Looking ahead, this thinking actor is also set for one more big multi-starrer digital show for MX Player. “Its trailer should be out very soon. As usual I can’t give more details, but suffice to say that you will see me in a completely different avatar. I hope the script and story appeals to the people for I have high hopes from it,” says this Assistant Director (Love Sex and Dhoka) turned actor.
“Then there are 2 episodic stories for Voot and Zee5 respectively. The latter, titled Parchiyan, will be shot next week. Last but not the least, I have also done a 7-episode travel show along with Veer Rajwant Singh, called Trails 2 Passion (YouTube), which has just hit the www world this month.”
Shifting gears to films, he says, “I have one more exciting feature lined up, but then again, everything boils down to getting a good release window. Not many must be aware of my debut film, Sulemani Keeda, which came and went.” He was also part of the 2016 film, Loveshuda, which too sank without a trace.
“Today marketing has become very important; you need to make sure that your product, be it TV, web or films, is out there. No wonder we artists also do lots of interviews. Interestingly, though Pitchers did not have a huge PR plan, yet it became a hit.”
