You can't please all, says Samir Kochhar on Sacred Games 2 naysayers

Host and actor Samir Kochhar is very happy with his on-going web journey. After debuting with ALTBalaji’s Test Case and then doing Sacred Games, he is now back with Netflix horror series, Typewriter, and Sacred Games 2.

Starting with Typewriter, Samir says, “It was a pleasure working with such a talented director like Sujoy Ghosh. Despite the long sched, dada was always cool and in control of things, knowing exactly what he wanted from each of his actors.”

Here, Samir admitted that his infidel husband character’s graph will only open in Season 2. “That was how the story was structured.”

On the point that some fans felt that the climax of Season 1 was not proper, leaving a lot unexplained, he said, “Well, a few threads need to be left open to take the story forward.”

“I personally feel that the best way to binge-watch a series is to enjoy every moment, rather than restrict yourself to the climax.”

Shifting gears to Sacred Games 2, Samir is proud to be part of a series that has changed the face of desi web. “We have again got lots of appreciation. Yes, some did not like it as well, but hey, you can’t please all.”

“I have no problems with limited screen space, being a non-greedy actor. Also, you need to accept that the structure of our ensemble cast is unique. It not only yo-yos between the two worlds of Sartaj (Saif Ali Khan) and Gaitonde (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), but also, there are the time leaps that keep happening.”

“I am happier being a small part of an iconic show rather than being lead of a show that goes unsung.”

There was no nudity in Season 2. Was it deliberately toned down after all the noise last year? “No, it was not required in Season 2. We don’t add or subtract anything just to win eyeballs or placate anyone.”

Looking ahead, he has two huge web projects in hand, which he refused to talk about. Sources say that the first is Amazon Prime’s Four More Shots Please Season 2, and second is a big project for Jio.

Apart from web and hosting cricket, Samir loves to dabble in cinema as well (has done several films). Sadly, his last project, Hume Tumse Pyaar Kitna tanked. “I had expected this Karanvir Bohra production to release much earlier. Also, I would have hoped for more screen time, given the fact that I had shot much more.”

“But then, everything does not go according to plan. So I just do my thing and move on, no hard feelings.”
