After impressing one and all with her rebellious daughter avatar in ALTBalaji web series, Kehne Ko Humsafar Hain, Pooja Banerjee, aka Rewa of Swim Team, wants to dabble more in web.
“I will return to TV only if I net something really juicy.” Here, she is quite frank, and admits that as of now, TV is huge. “The money on offer is much more, but then the time commitment is also much more. Web projects, on the other hand, are short and sweet,” says this ex-national swimmer, who has done other TV shows, such as Nagarjuna – Ek Yoddha, Chandra Nandini, etc.
Talking about her character Bani, in the above web series, Pooja says, “The biggest challenge was to be mean. The best part of web is that is that you can show what really happens, unlike TV, where most characters are Sati Savitri type. Having said that, I don’t really lament the current level of TV content, for you need to accept that audience demography has changed. Back in the good old DD days, content was watched by educated people. Today, TV reaches the lowest common denominator.”
“It takes time for Bani to accept that her father Rohit (Ronit Roy), is no longer with his mother Poonam (Gurdeep Kohli). She goes through several mental phases–first denial, then grudging acceptance, but yet she does not like Ananya (Mona Singh),” avers the girl about her recent web-series.
“Here, I wish to emphasise that at no stage do we propagate extramarital affairs, but these things do happen. We are only offering more possible scenarios.”
Looking ahead, would you be ok for dare-bare, which seems to be the new normal on the web?
“Honestly, I am not cut out for that, but again it depends on the situation. If the script demands it, I might say yes.But net is not only that.Take a look at my show and the other ALTBalaji show, Haq Se. Bold is not only in clothes; it can also be in concept.”
