Communication is the key to bring happiness back in a troubled relationship: Barkha Bisht

Barkha Bisht talks about her short film called Choices

Barkha Bisht, who has entertained masses in shows like Shriman Shrimati Phir Se, Kaal Bhairav – Ek Naya Rahasya, Paramavatar Shri Krishna, recently featured in a short film called Choices which was released on MX player.

The actress teamed up with husband Indraneil Sengupta for the project which depicts how relationships were affected because of the lockdown when family members were stuck with each other. Talking about her thoughts on the concept of the film, she said, “The concept is amazing. Initially, when we started hearing the story, I thought it was a typical husband-wife story. However, as the story unfolded we realized it is more than that. There is a thrill to it and the ending was especially shocking.”

How do you think relationships were affected because of the lockdown? She mentioned, “I think it has had positive as well as negative effects. Positive because, a couple gets to spend time with each other, which we don’t get to do normally. Negative I would say that it was challenging for men because it is not easy to do things that women do. Having said that, I don’t know how many women do the work as we are so used to domestic help in the house. To be in a house without help was challenging for women. However, it comes naturally to them hence it was difficult for the men.”

When asked about the perfect mantra to bring happiness back in a troubled relationship, she shared, “The only mantra in any relationship is communication. Today, people don’t communicate with each other. When I say to communicate that means listen to the person and understand what he/she is trying to say. It’s not just for husband and wife, it is also for parents and kids, brother and sister. Basically, for every relationship, communication is the key.”
