Coronavirus is Mother Nature’s payback for pollution: Arjun Bijlani

Arjun Bijlani feels that the on-going Coronavirus outbreak is giving the world a chance to reboot.

“For far too long, we have ignored climate change. Mother Earth was gasping for breath, and yet we ignored her.”

“And now we have an illness which directly attacks our breathing as well (respiratory system). Is it payback time? However, all is not lost given the compulsory lockdown in China; its satellite image is now much more cleaner; normally, we would always see a brown patch due to pollution.”

Arjun is anxious about the extent of the outbreak and limited Governemt response. “So far, Mumbai has just one hospital for testing. Also, the helpline number always comes engaged. If I could not get through, think about the more significant amount of possible infected patients who might not be getting through as well. In the absence of quarantine/ treatment, they will continue to spread the disease in their wider community.”

“The biggest fear is what would happen to our elders, who are more at risk due to weakened immunity. We all have senior citizens at home, and they need to be protected,” he states.

“I think the Government needs to step up the lockdown efforts. Agreed all this would have economic consequences, but then we have to put money above human lives.”

“So although I am disappointed that all promotional activity of my new ZEE5 show, State Of Siege: 26/11 is off, I am taking it in my stride as we face a looming public health crisis.”

Well-said, Arjun!!
