The glamorous and sophisticated Rakshanda Khan is quite pleased with her ghost buster avatar in ALTBalaji’s ongoing series Ragini MMS Returns.
“It is a continuation of the popular web series Ragini MMS Returns, where a ghost has been wrecking havoc on a group of college kids. Now my character tries to understand who, what and why,” says Rakshanda Khan who has done several hit small screen show shows like Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu and Bade Achhe Lagte Hain etc.
Ask her about her approach to play the character and she avers, “I depended totally on the creative as luckily I don’t have any paranormal experience. At first the schedule was tough for it was totally night driven given the genre. It took me a couple of days just to get adjusted.”
Rakshanda who always preferred TV over cinema, as it was demure, follows the same funda here as well. “I am just catching the ghost and am not part of the sex, lies and video tape track. That is better done by Ragini (Karishma Sharma) and others.”
Having said that, she has no qualms about the bold quotient in the show. “Horror films always have explicit content, so what’s new? Plus kissing and making out is only one aspect of it. At its core Ragini MMS Returns is a still a horror story.”
Besides Ragini MMS Returns 2, Rakshanda is also toying with couple of more interesting web offers. “The best part is that digital stories are younger, contemporary; plus the over the top acting which dominates TV is absent. Above all, content is more realistic in presentation. Once the current craze for the bold and the beautiful dies down, we will get a great mix of genres. After all how much bold stuff can you watch? At the end of the day, meaningful content will win the day.”
She adds on, “Also shows on ALT Balaji are of diverse genres. If you have a Ragini MMS Returns, you also have political concepts like BOSE: Dead Or Alive and Haq Se.”
In closing, ask her about the web budgets she says, “Agreed till a while back they were on the lower side. But now with biggies like Ronit Roy, Ram Kapoor, Rajeev Khandelwal and others jumping in the web space, they will obviously charge their worth. The makers have also realized that they need known faces to bring in the audiences.”
Way to go, Rakshanda!!
