Ellen Pompeo Reveals On-Set Argument With Denzel Washington From The Sets Of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’; Read On To Know More

Denzel Washington and Ellen Pompeo had a huge fight on the set of Grey's Anatomy, and Ellen Pompeo explains why.

On her podcast Tell Me With Ellen Pompeo, Ellen Pompeo is spilling some important details about all the behind-the-scenes activity from Grey’s Anatomy. She revealed her on-set feud with Oscar winner Denzel Washington, who helmed an episode on the program, in a recent episode. During their fight, Pompeo stated she called him a motherf***er.
Denzel Washington was a guest director on Grey’s Anatomy for the season 12 episode, and let’s just say there wasn’t a lot of silence on set during production. Washington and Ellen, who plays Meredith Grey in the series, got into a nasty brawl when she improvised a line in the episode, according to Ellen.
Pompeo claimed that Washington went “ham on my ass” after she improvised a line during a scene. “She said,” she explained “‘I’m the director,’ he said. ‘Please don’t tell him what to do.'” Pompeo went on to say about how she reacted, “‘Listen, motherf***er, this is my programme,’ I said. This is my collection. Who are you going to tell? You have no idea where the restroom is.”
Denzel came on board, according to the actress, since his wife is a major fan of the show. She insisted that, despite his celebrity, he had no concept of how television works. Despite her “utmost regard” for him, Ellen admitted that the two didn’t get along without a fight while working on the program.
