Euphoria’s Makeup Looks You Can Recreate When You Are Bored

Check out the most beautiful makeup looks of Euphoria

HBO’s Euphoria, with its fever-dream imagery and scathing tone, has grown to be one of my favorite teen dramas. I’m not sure how realistic the show is—do kids actually pop Molly, engage in open s*x in swimming pools during house parties, or pistol whip drug dealers? I’ll hazard a guess and say no, but I still adore Euphoria, especially the cosmetic styles. Even while Season 2 strives for more “subtle” looks, the makeup is crazy but gorgeous, just like the show itself.

When I was a teenager in the early 2000s, my makeup styles were nowhere near as cool as those of the teens on Euphoria. Think heavy black eyeliner and lip gloss that stuck to your hair every time you turned. As someone who has been infatuated with makeup since before I was even permitted to wear it, I would have given anything to have put on some cerulean glitter and massive lashes for the third period, but alas, that just wasn’t the trend back then (kids today don’t realize how fortunate they are!).

I’m completely smitten with Jules’ Romeo + Juliet costume from Season 1 when she wears it to a Halloween party. It has a beautiful, dreamy, and slightly gothic aesthetic that resembles the ethereal (and slightly surreal) atmosphere of the Luhrmann movie. Even when Jules gets really inebriated and jumps into the pool while still wearing her clothes, she swims through the water like an angel. How do you get this look again? You’ll need gold glitter for your eyebrows, gold foil detailing(opens in new tab) in the corners of your eyes, and a pastel, shimmery smokey eye in addition to a steady hand to apply all that gold foil.

Maddy’s second-season cosmetics look like one of her more sophisticated ones. According to Doniella Davy, the makeup artist for Euphoria, Season 2’s makeup is intended to be more “discoverable” and subdued than the overt aesthetics of Season 1. But being subtle need not be monotonous. This double liner wing is usually applied with knife-like accuracy, as is a “Maddy wing”! Grab your preferred liquid eyeliner pen(opens in a new tab) and the secret tool: cotton tips for cutting out the space between the lines to duplicate this look.

The glitter tears from Season 1 are undoubtedly the most famous makeup look from the program. Rue’s look on Euphoria is typically quite laid-back, but when the mood strikes, she’ll still add a smokey eye and a haphazard scattering of glitter. Because the program is not intended to be thorough, it is rather simple to duplicate the effect. To mimic the emotional and frequently messy aspect of tears, the glitter should appear somewhat smudged and unpolished. Although any glitter will do, the show uses a Lemonhead LA glitter gel in Houdini. I believe the expenditure is worthwhile because gels typically have considerably more staying power and pigmentation than pressed glitter.

I’ve included Cassie and Maddy’s makeup looks to demonstrate the variety of ways you can use rhinestones. With a combination of teal and sapphire blue rhinestones(opens in new tab) outlining the eyes, blue glitter eyeshadow, and thick black lashes, this was one of Cassie’s most daring looks of Season 1. Maddy’s makeup, on the other hand, is less dramatic but no less eye-catching. Although rhinestones aren’t utilized in this particular look, either one may be for a different spin on Maddy’s distinctive winged eyeliner.

I’m down with Kat’s monochromatic makeup look, which has kind of become a signature for her. Since you’re only using one color, these makeup looks from Euphoria are arguably the simplest to imitate while yet being effective. Get the darkest, brightest shadow you can find, put it on your lids, and then mix it up to your brow. To finish the look, use gobs of mascara and winged eyeliner.

These eye spikes that Jules wore to the winter formal are completely out of this planet. In addition, they have a menacing appearance, which I adore. This appearance from Season 1 is the result of Jules being threatened by Nate (who later blackmails her after having catfished her for weeks), and it appears that she has used the spikes as armor. On Instagram, Davy even wrote that she wanted “Jules’ eyes to look like they might genuinely hurt Nate.” The goal was accomplished!
