Newbie actor Anuranjan Awasthi is happy and elated to have shared screen space in his acting debut work with legends such as Ronit Roy and Tisca Chopra in Hostages.
Hostages, the upcoming Hotstar Specials series which will stream on 31 May has a great ensemble cast that includes Ronit Roy, Tisca Chopra, Parvin Dabas, Aashim Gulati, Mohan Kapoor, Malhaar Rathod etc.
The series is created by Applause Entertainment.
Anuranjan Awasthi who holds a lawyer’s degree but followed his passion of acting hails from Delhi.
He was earlier part of the Asmita Theatre Group in Delhi and has also featured in TV commercials and various print ads.
His first big claim to fame will be the series Hostages wherein he plays the role of an army officer by name Aditya Sinha.
Says Anuranjan, “I have had my days of struggle in Mumbai after shifting my base from Delhi. To make my debut as actor in such a big series Hostages is the best thing that could have happened to me. I play an army officer whose entry will bring in a lot of curiosity and suspense in Hostages. What the character brings to the table will be an interesting watch.”
Speaking about this lifetime experience, Anuranjan states, “I have earlier watched Ronit Roy and Tisca Chopra as actors, and to work with them was a great learning experience. It was a cherry on top feeling to be directed by the renowned Director Sudhir Mishra. He is a director par excellence.”
“Overall, I have had a great learning curve by being part of Hostages. Being directed by Sudhir Mishra has to be the best experience,” he adds.
Anuranjan states that nobody from his family has ever tried hand at acting. “I am happy to have got my first footing in the industry. I need to evolve as an actor with every experience I get. I feel proud and elated to have landed into such a big project. It is a brilliant achievement for any newcomer.”
Anuranjan is open to work on TV and web. “I am keen on doing good work. I am ready to break into TV as well. However, I feel the work and roles available on web space are more realistic. It will be great to bag another crisp role in a web-series. Having said this, I am open to TV offers too.”
