I am happy to play myself in ‘It Happened in Hong Kong’: Aahana Kumra

Aahana Kumra talks about her latest web offering, for Viu.

Talented actress Aahana Kumra, who has featured in TV shows and movies, is excited for her upcoming web-series, It Happened in Hong Kong on Viu.

She shares, “It was fun to shoot. The good thing was that there weren’t too many actors, we were just two people.  I had never worked with Amol Parashar. However, I have seen his work and we were in the same theatre group but never got an opportunity to work together. He is a cool guy to work with. The show has turned out to be amazing. I am waiting for the trailer to come out and it seems like fun.”

Talking about how she bagged the role, she avers, “My friend works with Viu. She told me that they are planning to do a show in Hong Kong. She knew that I am a travel bug. She thought I perfectly fit into the role. She believed that it will come very naturally to me. Since I have a lot of solo travelling, I thought to take up the project. I have done a lot of serious work, so it was great opportunity for me to do such a fun series. I am happy to play myself. I made some great friends. When they told that Lakshya Raj Anand has come on board as director, I was happy as I wanted to work with him since a long time. He is very good with capturing young minds and their energies.”

She continues, “The best part is that I can say whatever and get away with it. I don’t need to be pretentious. In television and films, you need to be careful about who are you hurting. You can’t use slangs. I think the web liberates you a lot. It is literally like talking to my audience. I like digital platform.”

On an ending note, she says, “I don’t think audience has watched a web-series like this. It’s about two interesting people and their conversations are very real. The team has managed to capture Hong Kong really well. It was too much fun shooting. Imagine, how much people will enjoy the same.”

Good luck Aahana!
