Versatile actor Jay Soni, known for his remarkable ability to embody a diverse array of characters, is now embarking on an exciting new journey. He has been appointed as India’s first digital jockey by Big FM, a groundbreaking role allowing him to connect with audiences freshly and innovatively. In this unique position, Jay will be exploring the vibrant landscape of Gujarat, immersing himself in its rich culture and traditions while engaging with locals. This venture not only highlights his adaptability as an actor but also sets a new precedent in the digital entertainment realm in India.
As a proud Gujarati, Jay has embraced this responsibility with great assurance and enthusiasm. He feels a deep sense of pride in taking on this opportunity, viewing it not just as a task but as a meaningful challenge that he is eager to navigate.
Says Jay on this new feather in his cap, “The idea cropped up in the minds of Big FM. They put it in my mind. I liked the concept, it is something new. I am happy to be the first digital jockey in India.”
“It is a responsibility for sure. I am excited to connect with my Gujarati audience. I am all set to explore the varied culture, heritage and food specialities of Gujarat and get into detail about many personalities in Gujarat. I am excited to connect these personalities and places to the audience,’ he adds.
I am a Gujarati, and my goal will be to connect with the Gujarati audience when I talk.
On how the concept will look, Jay says, “There are a lot of places to explore around Gujarat. I will cite a few examples here that I know will be covered -the rich palace in Gondal, the palace in Vadodara, Saputara which is one of the most talked about tourist destinations in Gujarat and why it gets its name etc. Saputara is known for holding the maximum number of lions, it has a vast jungle, and also has the wax museum. The show will highlight such major points of interest in and around Gujarat.”
Ask him about his preparations for the show, and Jay states, “The team at Big FM has researched a lot about the places and personalities to be covered. My preparation as a jockey is to know about the places. I need to understand the nuances of the place and personalities before I shoot for the episode. I am a Gujarati, and my goal will be to connect with the Gujarati audience when I talk.”
Does this stint put the actor in the back seat for a while? “Not at all. I shoot for this show for only 2 to 3 days a month. I am a multi-talented guy. So, I will be an actor first. I wanted to explore and connect with my roots with this opportunity. As a Gujarati, I am proud to do this show. My acting stints will forever be on.”
What’s coming next? “My series on a big platform is coming soon, which will have stalwarts like Ravi Kishen, Shekhar Suman etc. All I can say is that you will see a different Jay. The concept is based on a Bihar backdrop, and I play a Bihari.”
Lastly, Jay, who has adorned a lot of caps in his studded career, says, “I want to be remembered for the roles I take up and for my performances.”
Best of luck!!
