I like the edginess of web fiction – Rithvik Dhanjani

Rithvik Dhanjani talks about his recent digital venture, Galti Se Mis-Tech and on his experience.

Rithvik Dhanjani is back, this time on the digital space to entertain his fans!! He is presently enjoying his ALTBalaji show, Galti Si Mis-Tech.

Says Rithvik, “The short digital format is great. Coming to the theme, at a time when man-woman jokes are passé, the technological twist in the tale holds the audiences, i.e. the bloopers digitally-challenged Shivam and Dhara (Anita Hassanandani) end up making, bring a smile to your faces.”

Going on, he says, “It was great working with Anita, having known each other for a while. We very easily slipped into our respective characters.”

Rithvik first gained name and fame, courtesy Pavitra Rishta, back in 2011. Prior to that, he had done Bandani and Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani.

Do you share similar nok-jhok with girlfriend Asha Negi? “We share a different equation. I don’t think twice before taking public digs at her.”

Coming to TV vs web, Rithvik says, “Both the formats have distinct audiences and charm. There is a segment of viewers who even consume tube content on the web and not on their set top boxes. What I like about web series is that they really push the envelope in terms of making edgy stories. I am game for more web series. “

He was part of Nakkul Mehta‘s I Don’t Watch TV and a couple of shorts as well.

Rithvik is in no hurry to get back to TV fiction. “Although I have a large number of offers on hand, I am being selfish to wait for something juicy which will make me put everything on hold for a year and a half, including hosting reality shows (India’s Next Superstars, Super Dancer etc.).”

His last fiction outing was MTV’s Fanaah in 2014.

Will you also produce a digital series as some of your compatriots are doing? “Well, I have been part of the making process of a few, but don’t want to go to town about it as I am still learning the same.”

Like all TV actors, Rithvik too has Bollywood dreams. “It will happen soon. I am waiting for the right team, which will handhold me to reach my goal.”

He had a small part in the 2011 release, Jo Hum Chahein, starring Sunny Gill and Simran Mundi.

Best of luck, Rithvik!!
