If you are likes any other normal teen spending half their time procrastinating by watching funny memes and videos on YouTube, you might have come across ‘BB Ki Vines’. It is certainly hard to miss the Indian Youtuber Bhuvan Bam has us all ROFL’ing with his silly characters and rib-tickling skits.
Starting his journey as an aspiring musician and then posting videos on YouTube full-time, has had one hell of a journey.
Bhuvan used to take up music lessons when he was young and after graduating, started singing in bars and pubs in New Delhi. Music was his only thing. Until it wasn’t!
First encounter with comedy
Bhuvan came in one day to the television showing a TV news reporter asking a grieving mother bizarre and insensitive questions about her son’s death in the Kashmir floods. And Bhuvan couldn’t help but make a satire video of the sheer absurdity of what he had just seen. He went on to post the 15-video on his Facebook which only got a meager 15 views.
BB Ki Vines
Before his YouTube channel came into existence, Bhuvan decided to create a Facebook page and name it ‘BB Ki Vines’, for the simple reason to separate the comedian from the musician.
However, when the same FB video went on to become viral in Pakistan and later several different countries, it inspired Bhuvan enough to create his first YouTube channel by the same name in 2015.
A One-Man Show
Bhuvan Bam’s YouTube channel features 2-8 minute long videos showcasing the life of a middle-class teenager and his hilarious conversations with friends and family. Apart from the witty punchlines and originality, the best part you ask? All these characters are played by the man himself, Bhuvan Bam.
With his relatable yet hilarious characters like Bancho, Hola and Titu Mama, the youtuber has played over 15 characters all by himself.
While others spend thousands, Bhuvan admits that he does not put a single penny into the making process. From pre-production to post-production, Bhuvam Bam does it all on his phone. Yes, you read that right!
