Shirin Sewani who has worked in all the mediums of acting, is elated that the newest media – the social media also welcomed her with open arms and though her fans miss her on TV as she is looking for a good concept and a different character, they still garner her with love and affection. Shirin shares, “The only thing that I feel is gratitude and gratitude for all the love and support. Yes, it takes a lot of energy of yours to create so much content every day, every week, every month, but when you see people responding, appreciating and loving your work, you automatically get motivated. When people message me that they are having a hard time or a bad day and my video made them laugh or just got a smile on their face, I feel that all the hard work is worth it.”
When asked what does she like to refer herself as TV Actor or Content Creator or simply an Artist, Shirin was quick to reply, “Of course, an artist. I think there should be no barrier of medium at all. I have worked and and done good work on all mediums, and I feel that at the end of the day it’s the script, concept, story and characters that are important and not the medium. Good content can be created and is being created everywhere. I don’t understand why people categorise as ‘she is a tv actor’, ‘he is a movie actor’, ‘he is a theatre artist’, ‘she is a content creator’, etc. I think it should not be like that and we need to stop using such terms even when we are writing captions, or media articles or while addressing someone, we need to consciously take this step and keep in mind so that these tags can be eradicated. In West, an artist is an artist, no bifurcations, tags attached, same way it should be simply just an artist. I think we are still a long way to go but I am sure every actor wants to be known as an artist as everyone is doing different mediums and exploring. So hope to see this change soon.”
