Married Woman, the show, has helped me understand the LGBTQ community better – Ridhi Dogra

Check out what actress Ridhi Dogra has to say on Married Woman 2 announcement & Pride Month

Ridhi Dogra is one of the most popular and amazing actresses of the Hindi entertainment industry. She’s most known for her progressive and impactful role of Aastha in Married Woman and the TV serial for which she got a lot of critical acclaim is Maryada: Lekin Kab Tak?

Ridhi is presently very excited as the announcement of Married Woman 2 has happened a week back and that too on the very special occasion of Pride Month. For the unversed, the ‘Pride Month’ is primarily the promotion of self-affirmation, dignity, equality, and increased visibility of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people as a social group. The word ‘Pride’, as opposed to shame and social stigma is the predominant outlook that bolsters most LGBT rights movements.

Ridhi’s role as a member of the LGBTQ community was very progressive for all fans and admirers and during an exclusive conversation with us, when we asked her about what she learnt more about them, she was quoted as saying,

“Well, Married Woman as a show was extremely sensitive and it ensured that it resonated with the sensibilities of the LGBTQ community. I have been around with so many queer friends and people I know and each and everyone of them is so beautiful. At times, the only thing that they probably seek is a bit of acceptance like normal regular human beings. More often than not, we as a society have failed to give them that acceptance. We have to collectively ensure that we all are on the same page when it comes to treating human beings as human beings. Preferences can be different and it’s only normal to have so. I was always aware about the LGBTQ community and I have always stood up for their rights as and when possible. But yes, Married Woman as a show helped me understand the LGBTQ community better and I am glad about it. We need to bridge the gap soon and I hope we are on the right path.”
