It is no longer limited to memes, fun, or joy but has evolved into empowerment with inspirational stories. Priyanka Sharma, a well-known Moj creator, has one such story. While she rose to prominence through her entertaining and creative lip-syncing, acting, and dance videos, her story as a single mother has inspired many people on social media. Her passion for acting aided her in embarking on the content creation journey. Priyanka shares her beautiful journey of balancing being a successful creator and a wonderful mother on Mother’s Day.
Do you remember what a journey was to raise your kid all by yourself? Tell us more about that experience.
Raising your child as a single parent is not an easy task. You have to double up and play multiple roles to gap the void. I am working so hard for my son so that I can give him everything he desires, and I don’t want him to feel like, “if papa hote to aisa hota.” I had to be strong, not just for myself but for my son, because I could not bear the thought of him looking at me broken. But I am pretty happy with where I am with my son.
Is content creation supporting you? How did you start creating content?
Before embarking on my content creation journey, I worked as a freelance makeup artist, but this required me to leave my son home alone on a regular basis, which hampered his studies and growth. I couldn’t give him my full attention because I had to manage work outside the home. I didn’t have any other options at the time, but my love of acting and fashion inspired me to start creating content on Moj, and little did I know I’d become the app’s most popular user. When I thought the going was too harsh, Moj gave me a push. Though content creation takes time, I can work from home and still spend time with my son. With a breath of fresh air, it has made my life a little easier. I began creating content during lockdown because I didn’t have time to go out and do my makeup. I was concerned about my future, but luckily, Moj came into my life at that time, and life gave me a second chance. I recall how motivated I was when I briefly became popular on this platform. With the app’s love and appreciation, I decided to pursue content creation further, keep learning tricks and tips about it, and have my name engraved on every social platform.
How has motherhood impacted your life, and what is the one message you would like to share with mothers who can relate to your story?
My years as a mother have made me incredibly proud of any other aspect of my life. Motherhood has made me what I am today. I doubt I would be in this situation if it weren’t for my son. Being a single mom isn’t just a life full of struggles but a journey for the strong, and I am the strongest because my little one made me one; I respect all moms doing double duty during their motherhood. I would tell any single mother to embrace motherhood and wear it as a badge of honor. Nothing less.
Tell us one important lesson you learned from your mother that you want your child to know as well.
Every girl learns from her mother. My mother, like all mothers, is very loving and supportive, and I see the same traits being passed down to me and then to my son, which I am very grateful for. Because of my mom and son’s love and support, I can concentrate on my work. They both believe in me and believe that if I put my heart into it, I can accomplish anything, and they refer to me as a superwoman as a result. Finally, I’d like to point out that being a single parent entails twice the work, stress, and tears but also twice the love, hugs, and pride.
