As of now, everybody is making web content but nobody is watching: Satyadeep Mishra

Satyadeep Mishra who has featured in ZEE5 series, Zero Kms gets into a conversation.

Talented actor, Satyadeep Mishra, is enjoying his stint in new Zee5 original digital series, Zero Kms.

Says the actor, “I have always liked the work of director Qaushiq Mukherjee, popularly known as Q (has made films like Gandu and Brahman Naman). The concept is Goa-based human trafficking. I play a cop who gets caught in the system. My dad is inthe IPS and knows how tough it is to do your job honestly.”

Satyadeep was first noticed in No One Killed Jessica. His other films include Ferrari Ki Sawari, Bombay Velvet, Phobia, etc.

He really enjoyed sharing screen space with veteran Naseeruddin Shah, in Zero Kms. “Although we did not have many scenes together, yet just being on the same set with him is like a learning curve.”

Is your show also bold, as most web products are? “See, given the concept, I would say we have shown the stark reality. Even in the 21st century, slavery continues to exist.”

Talking about web, he says, “As of now, everybody is making content which nobody is watching. We are still in the nebulous library-building stage; a time of consolidation will come. I am very happy for the artists and technicians who are getting work. Agreed, money is less, but it is constant.”

Satyadeep also accepts that none of his above films have gone on to become commercial hits. “Had that been the case, I would have been somewhere else. But yes, I have always chosen the best on offer.”

Apart from films and web, he has also tried his hands at TV– he was a part of P.O.W. – Bandi Yuddh Ke. “I have got maximum love and attention from this project. Director Advani shot it like a film; all actors in the scene had something to do and were not there just to fill up the canvas.”

But it too was not a big-ticket rating grosser? “No, it was never meant to be a numbers show. Firstly, it aired in the late night slot, and secondly, those who consumed it were not your normal TV audiences. No wonder, it gained a healthy traction on Hotstar. I am always looking for juicy work and not just TRPs. There have been several huge ratings shows, which I would never want to be a part of.”

Looking ahead, he has one more film up his sleeve. “I might do more web series, and yes, I don’t foreclose normal TV options as well.”

Way to go, Satyadeep!!
