At the age of 58, George Harrison passed away from lung cancer in November 29, 2001. Fans all across the globe have been paying homage to the departed music icon in the 21 years since that devastating day in The Beatles’ destiny.
His spouse Olivia Harrison shared a picture on social media with two hearts and an Om emoji, which stands for an incantation in Hinduism. The Harrison couple who absorbed Indian culture, was shown strumming guitar in her music video. Harrison’s iconic number While My Guitar Gently Weeps, from a musical concert with Eric Clapton, is the song playing in the Instagram photo.
However, George’s tragic death wasn’t just destined with his lung cancer. During the icon’s final years, he was also attacked by a 32 year old schizophrenic who stabbed Harrison 40 times on his lung, later to which, Harrison got his punctured lung removed too.
He succumbed to cancer on November 29. According to reports in Express UK, he started off with his radiotherapy treatment in New York after non-small cell lung cancer spread to his brain.
