I am the one bringing trouble in Bhasskar’s life: Jiya Shankar

Jiya Shankar the talented actor who played the lead in TV shows Queens Hai Hum and Meri Hanikarak Biwi will now make her digital debut with ALTBalaji series Virgin Bhasskar.

Jiya will literally be the ‘Bad Girl’ opposite the ‘Bad Boy’ Bhasskar.

The lady with the oomph factor, Jiya will play the role of Pakhi who will have a naughty chemistry going with Bhasskar.

Says Jiya, “I was always waiting for an opportunity to work on the web. This happened just after lockdown and I was very much excited to be part of it. I simply loved the character.”

“The concept is quite funny, the story revolves around Bhasskar and his virginity. All characters in the series, Mishraji, Rohan play a very important role in being along with Bhasskar.”

How will you define your role? “I am the one bringing in trouble (laughs) in Bhasskar’s life. My character is a jugaadu. She will do anything to make money. She has a set goal in mind and keeps collecting money. She has a past story too. She bumps into Bhasskar and they join together to write a book. She is the bad girl in Bhasskar’s life. Pakhi has a good layering and graph. She has a past, emotional side, in addition to the comic shade.”

“The series has a set of amazing actors; I learned so much from them,” Jiya adds.

Tell her that she is in some way involved with the virginity of the leading men in the shows she has worked. Her last was Meri Hanikarak Biwi. She has a hearty laugh and says, “You are right. I know that. I do not know why this happened. But hopefully my next show should break this image (smiles).”

On her first web journey, Jiya quips, “Web is a place where an actor will come to realize how good he/she is with respect to performing. It is very subtle and natural. As we know, TV is always one notch up. The first web experience has been nice and I look forward to many more opportunities.”
