One cannot compare TV and OTT: Jay Bhanushali

Jay Bhanushali talks about his latest series Dhappa

Hungama Play recently launched their latest series Dhappa. The show is a collection of five love stories of couples from small towns of India, who go to extreme lengths to hide their romance from snoopy relatives. In one of the episodes, television actor Jay Bhanushali, who is known for his exceptional work on TV, is seen playing a lead. Talking about his new series, the dashing actor said, “I am really excited to play a small-town romantic hero. I have played a hero in urban stories but this is something different that I have opted for. The story of Dhappa is very sweet and simple. All have been witnessing stressful content around. Hence, we are here to just spread smiles with this amazing series that you can watch with friends and family. I am sure viewers will love it.”

After working on projects like Hate Story 2, Ek Paheli Leela, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil, Geet – Hui Sabse Parayi, and Kayamath, we asked what is important for him – screen timing or an impactful role? He answered: “It should be the combination of both. Screen time and character both are important. It doesn’t matter if it is a protagonist or parallel lead in a project that I sign for. I just want viewers to remember me after the end of the episode.”

He continued, “I am open to doing good work. I don’t differentiate between the platforms. Be it film, TV, or OTT, if the subject is good and I have the opportunity to perform via my character then I would be happy to take up the project.”

Has OTT taken over TV? He mentioned, “I won’t say OTT has taken over TV. My mom still can’t understand these platforms and the series. Hence, that generation still depends on TV for entertainment. However, OTT has given the freedom to watch a show or series at a suitable time. Both TV and OTT have their set of audiences hence you cannot compare both.”
