The platform you choose to work or debut with does not really matter today - Preetika Rao

TV beauty Preetika Rao is back in a web avatar with Section 377 Ab Normal (Zee 5). We caught up with this sister of well-known Bollywood actress Amrita Rao, and this is what she had to say, “Section 377 Ab Normal is my first digital movie. I truly believe that today, because of digitalization, movies, TV-series, web-series etc. all finally land up on the web-space and have the entire world as its audience, who can watch your work from any part of the world at their convenient time and space. Hence, I believe that the platform you choose to work or debut with does not really matter today. What matters is that you choose to do classy work that your fans can watch and enjoy. I have been a fan of some of the lesser-known actors who have done incredible work in the web-space.”

Going on, she says, “I gave a skip to the biggest offers from Bollywood and chose to debut with television because it was my comfort space; and every Bollywood actor aspires to be part of television in some way or the other because of its incredible reach and recollection value.”

“Director Faruk Kabir (who directed Allah Ke Bande) approached me for 377 Ab Normal and said that I fit the role to the T, and have to be a part of his film. I play the role of a lawyer, inspired by a real life character, who helps in accelerating the process for her gay friend to challenge the judgement passed by the Delhi High Court that criminalised homosexuality in India.”

Preetika shot in Delhi and Mumbai. “I am happy to be a part of a hard-hitting real-life subject that deserves cinematic showcasing. Kudos to producers Aditya Narain Singh and Ajit Arora for going ahead with this project.”

Preetika is right now in Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), where she is shooting for a popular local brand as their brand ambassador. She was felicitated at the Sinema Zetu International Film Festival after her Indian TV show Beintehaa was dubbed and released there for the second time on popular demand.

She has also launched her cover songs with Saregama India and has featured in multiple music videos, including a music video with Shaan.
