Kumud Mishra, who has delivered stellar performances in movies like Badlapur, Airlift, Sultan, Rockstar and Raanjhanaa, is a well-known actor. The talented thespian was seen in SonyLIV’s series Ram Singh Charlie.
With Kumud and Divya Dutta in lead roles, the film follows the story of Ramsingh. His life takes an unexpected turn when the circus where he used to perform as a Charlie Chaplin impersonator shuts down due to financial losses. He is thrown into the bigger circus of life where he now has to now juggle between his role as a family man and that of a performer. In desperation ends up becoming a Rickshaw puller in the busy streets of Kolkata.
In conversation with IWMBuzz.com, Kumud talks about the series, challenges and more. Read on:
Talking about his experience working on the series, he says, “Well, I had already worked with director Nitin Kakkar on Filmistaan movie so it was a learning experience for me. The audience should definitely watch this movie because it’s a meaningful series. Also, it is about a family, art, relationships. This series will touch the audience’s hearts.”
When asked about the preparation behind the character, he shares, “I have played various shades while performing this character. There were a lot of layers to it. I saw Charlie Chaplin videos as I had to be like him so I worked on my expressions and the body language that he carried. I also learnt a few magic tricks. It was a tough task but overall a great experience.”
What lesson did you learn from the series? “I learnt that you should never give up on your dreams.”
Commenting on his experience of working with Divya Dutta, he adds, “Divya is a fantastic actress. We had worked earlier on a series and we had fun at that time. I was learning acting at that time. Now, we knew each other’s wavelength while working. It is was a great experience to work with her again.”
Finally, he says, “It will be a wondering watch for the audiences and I would want them to give it a try.”
