Halloween is a time for fun and creativity, where people around the world come together to celebrate by dressing up in various costumes. However, Uorfi Javed, the social media influencer, received backlash for her choice of a Halloween costume.

Uorfi decided to pay homage to the popular character Chota Pandit, portrayed by Rajpal Yadav in the 2007 Bollywood film ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa.’ The film, a comedy-horror classic, is beloved by many, and Chota Pandit is one of Rajpal Yadav’s most iconic roles. Uorfi’s intention was to recreate the look as a tribute, not realizing the storm it would stir.

The costume choice seemed harmless, as Uorfi wore a red full-sleeve T-shirt, saffron pants, a garland around her neck, and painted her face red to mimic the character’s distinct appearance. Unfortunately, her act of celebration and admiration quickly took a dark turn, as she received a barrage of death threats and rape threats, leading her to share her experience on Instagram.

In her heartfelt post, Uorfi expressed her shock and frustration, saying, “Rajpal Yadav se kisi ko koi problem nahi hua but maine jab ye look recreate liya toh sabko mujhse problem hai. I’ve received so many death threats, rape threats for no reason. All these so-called dharm k rakshak (protector of religion) suddenly woke up after I wore this outfit 10 years of Bhool Bhulaiya movie! No colour belongs to any religion, no agarbatti (incense sticks) belongs to any religion, no flower belongs to any religion.”
