Sharib Hashmi is undoubtedly one of the most talented actors we have in our country and not many can simultaneously boast of being a part of National Award and Oscar winning movies. After some fantastic performances in projects like Family Man, Asur, & many more, Sharib is all set to rock it once again with his upcoming release, My Client’s Wife releasing on Shemaroome Box Office on 31st July, 2020. Read the conversation below to know more about the film –
My Client’s Wife. The name in itself is quite interesting and appealing for a film. Tell us more about your character and the story?
Thank you so much! My Client’s Wife is a suspense thriller. It’s a very edge-of-the-seat drama. I play a character called Manas Verma, who is a lawyer to Abhimanyu Singh’s character. When I start investigating his case, I keep going deeper into it, which eventually starts affecting me personally and how things unravel towards the end is what the film is all about.
You are someone who has been a part of an Oscar-winning movie like Slumdog Millionaire and also a National Award film like Filmistaan. Not many actors in our country can boast of that. What would you say on this?
I’m actually very grateful to God that he gave me such beautiful opportunities. Although, in Slumdog Millionaire, I just had one scene but I got that scene when I was not even contemplating to pursue acting as a profession. I was actually working with Channel V as a writer. Then, I was offered Filmistaan, as the main lead and it went onto win the National Award for best Hindi film. It was a huge high for me. It’s an honour for me to be a part of such great films.
In today’s time and age where content is overflowing in the OTT space, what is different and unique about My Client’s Wife which will lure audience to watch it?
I know OTT platforms are overflowing with content and great content, at that. You are actually spoilt for choice and there are so many things to watch, at the same time the only thing that works for any show, movie or a series is the content itself and the script. It comes down to how engaging it is irrespective of who is starring in it. I think the biggest USP of My Client’s Wife is the script, the unique concept and the way it has been narrated. It’s unique narration, in specific is the biggest USP of the film, according to me. For the rest, will request the readers of your esteemed portal to kindly watch the movie on 31st July only on Shemaroome Box Office.
Lastly, do you think actors and creators in the OTT space are getting their due respect and recognition in the industry just like any other actor with big theatrical releases? Do you see any change?
Of course! OTT has become a boon for everybody, not just actors. All creative people – writers, directors, producers are all trying out of the box concepts on various subjects and it’s all thanks to OTT, where you don’t have to worry about what’s the collection going to be on Friday or Saturday and how much you are going to earn this weekend, weekend collection ka bhojh sar pe nhi hai (chuckles). It’s a great time to be in the industry and it has opened up a lot of avenues for everybody involved. In fact, my own career got revived because of the digital boom and with Family Man and Asur, people started taking notice of me once again.
