Karthik Kumar is one of the most naturally gifted standup comedian artistes that we have in our country at the moment and he has done some really credible work in the past in movies like Saathiya, Yuva, Kanda Naal Mudhal, Poi Solla Porom and many more. We all have earlier seen the success of Amazon Prime’s famous comedy series ‘Comicstaan’ and now the same series is all set to hit the Tamil regional market with Comicstaan Semma Comedy Pa with Karthik as one of the main judges and mentors.
Comedy is something that is very subjective in nature and what might be funny to someone might not be funny to the other person. When Karthik was asked about this as to how people should react if they don’t like a certain type of comedy, he said and we quote,
“Well, in our country there’s freedom of speech and different artistes will want to perform different kinds of acts. All I have to say is if you like it, continue enjoying it whereas if someone doesn’t like a particular type of comedy, he or she should simply avoid watching it. At the end of the day, insult comedy or slapstick comedy is also a type of comedy and naturally as people grow and mature with performances, they realize where to draw the line. As far as mentoring talent is concerned, I want to groom and mentor new talent to the best of my abilities in this show.”
