Hindi and south film actress, Nyra Banerjee, is quite excited about her web series debut, Zabaan Sambhal Ke. This remake of the 1990 super hit show has just gone live on ALTBalaji.
“I am playing the institute’s uptown, snooty Bengali receptionist, who, still being unsure of her sexual orientation, hits on both Mohan Bharti and the adult po*n star, Tara, who helps her figure out love.”
“She is also unaware that she does not need to do anything extra to attract attention, which her hotness is enough for.”
“One of the main reasons for saying yes was the opportunity to associate with a known brand like Zabaan Sambhal Ke. I was cast as I am Bengali, hence could get the required accent.”
Talking about alternate sexuality, Nyra says, “It is high time Indians again become accepting of all kinds of consensual sexual behaviour as it was in ancient times.”
“Who are we to judge whether you are a man or woman or neither, and who you love? At the end of the day, all that should matter is that we are all human and deserve to be treated with dignity and not looked down upon.”
Looking ahead, Nyra is open for more web series. “The best thing I like about web is that unlike films, which preclude a large number of artists due to Box Office demand, here space is given to new blood, who find audience acceptance, as you don’t need to pay huge like in cinema; plus, you can watch at your convenience.” Her other Hindi films include Kamaal Dhamaal Mala maal, Ishq Ne Krazzy Kiya Re and Azhar.
