Web shows are the next big thing in the country: Ekta Kaul

In conversation with Ekta Kaul…

Talented and cute actress Ekta Kaul (Rab Se Sohna Isshq and Bade Achhe Lagte Hain) is on a break now. After her short stint in Ghulam, she has returned to Jammu to spend time with folk.

Ask her what went wrong with the above Life OK (now Star Bharat) show, where she replaced Niti Taylor, but very soon the show shut. “Nothing,   it is a channel’s call and I respect it.  These things happen in life.”

Looking ahead, she is open to all kind of genres. “Romantic plots, thrillers, negative, sci-fi.  Since I was not an actor I never thought that as an actor you get a chance to live 1000 lives.  Now I am one, so I would want to explore every bit of it.”

She is also game for the new web format.  “I don’t have restrictions regarding the medium, would love to do a web series if it’s interesting and if I like the story and script.  Anyways, web shows are the next big thing in the country.”

Ask if she would be comfortable with the bold quotient of the web,   Ekta fires back, “Bold? Is that only that you see in a web series? You don’t see the content? You don’t see actors doing great work? You don’t see realism? You don’t see any of the other aspects?”

In closing we broach the subject of her personal life; Ekta was first in relationship with Rab Se Sohna Isshq co-star Kanan Malhotra, which did not work out. Last year, there were reports that she was getting hitched and hence was quitting her then show Mere Angne Mein. “I will invite everyone when the time comes, trust me. We all will dance together.”

She refuses to comment on the question if she is seeing someone at the moment.

We wish her luck.
