Zabaan Sambhal Ke’s reboot version is moulded according to this generation: Rupali Bhosale

Rupali Bhosale who is seen in ALTBalaji’s series Zabaan Sambhal Ke talks about the cult show, the reboot and her role in it.

Enchanting beauty Rupali Bhosale, who rose to fame with Badi Door Se Aaye Hain and also enthralled audience in web-series Zero KM, is currently seen in ALTBalaji’s web-series Zabaan Sambhal Ke, the much loved sitcom that ran from 1993 to 1998, which has made a comeback with a fresh cast.

Inspired by the hit international show Mind Your Language, Zabaan Sambhal Ke was a show about the Hindi teacher Mohan Bharti at the National Institute of Language. His students come from all over India and he constantly struggles to correct their understanding and pronunciation of Hindi words.

Talking about her character in the series, she shares, “I playing the character of Paro, who is a fisherwoman. She is straight forward and always ready to fight as she takes no nonsense. She wants to expand her business overseas; hence she wants to learn Hindi. So she joins the institute to learn the language for her business deals.”

Rupali feels the fresh team is the USP of the series. “The freshness, energy and different concept will be the USP. The story of the series is moulded according to this generation’s audience. Everything will be digital in the next few years. To add a touch of old is gold, we had Rajeev sir, who was associated with this series as well. We have released 3 episodes to see the response of the viewers. There are mixed responses from audience but they are liking it and are asking for more.”

She continues, “Mahabharat and Ramayan was also created earlier but still if they are launched now, people watch it. The reboot versions are for the current generation. I want to create my own mark with my acting skills and want people to know and remember my role. Initially, I was apprehensive that my character might get lost amongst 14-15 other characters. However, Rajeevji told me to sit for reading and then take a decision. In the process, I also felt that for women, there are limitations in terms of comedy as it should not look vulgar. But while shooting for the series, I was given immense amount of freedom with boundaries which never made my character look ugly or bad.”

When asked about again working with Sumeet Raghavan, she adds, “Sumeet and I have worked together earlier, so we share a good rapport. There is a good chemistry between us but however, here we don’t have too many scenes together. I have scenes with Jimmy and we have also bonded well.”

On an ending note, she shares, “The previous season was amazing. We had talented bunch of people in it. All of them are my favourite but Viju Kothe, Pankaj Kapoor, Tanaaz, Bhavna and Shubha ma’am were superb.”

Well said, Rupali
