7 Regional Web Series for 7 Days of the Week – Something for Everyone

The web series space has gone full throttle with new ideas, newer concepts as well as reaching out to newer markets ensuring that there is something for everyone. The web show in regional languages are so rich with content and have such a variety of genres that you won’t miss the Angrezi and Hindi shows. Here’s a list of five regional digital shows that are worth watching:

Social (Telugu and Hindi) – Set amidst Hyderabad, ‘SOCIAL’ is a story about four individuals who come together to solve the mystery of a missing girl. This bilingual series by Viu Originals aims to spark organic conversations and inspire a dialogue amongst the millennials on the pros and cons of social media.

YOLO (Marathi) – To deliver high-quality entertainment with a cultural essence to its Marathi audience, Sony LIV presents Marathi YOLO, an extremely humorous yet deep web-series is a coming-of-age story of four young adults. The plot revolves around them unexpectedly going through a series of dramatic events that transform their perspectives on love, relationships, s*x and life in general.

Kacho Papad Pako Papad (Gujarati) – The show is another good addition to SonyLIV’s regional content catalog. The web-series is all about the sprightly misadventures of the Maniyar family. A family with an uncanny ability to make any ordinary issue look like an extraordinary challenge.

Black Sheep (Tamil and English)  Rascalas’ new web series, ‘Black Sheep,’ is a slice-of-life story in an urban set-up, about a confused 22-year-old heading towards his first win in life. Based in Chennai, the story takes us through the life of Shyam Renganathan, who has taken the decision to drop out of an engineering college to follow his heart.

Sleepless Nights (Punjabi) – It’s a story which revolves around a young couple, Shefali and Bunny. Starting from happy, loving, chirpy love birds, sadly the story turns into a nightmare. The web series which has got an 8.4 rating on IMDb tells us how communication gap between parents and children is ruining the lives of both.

Pilla (Telugu and Hindi– This web series is a ‘dramedy’ in which a girl goes out to party and gets drunk. The events that follow the next day make her realise that she is pregnant. Throughout the series, she figures out and traces back all the events that happened during the party, which led her to get pregnant. This Viu’s original series guarantees to be a full-fledged entertainer.

Feluda (Bengali) – Satyajit Ray’s cult private investigator, Feluda and his sidekick Topshe, will soon make their debut on a Bengali web series. The series features Parambrata Chattopadhyay as Feluda while Riddhi Sen is stepping in as Topshe.​
