Blackpink’s Jennie’s debut acting series “The Idol” has been officially cancelled after just one season and the news comes as a disappointment for the star and her admirers, who were eagerly anticipating her transition from the music stage to the realm of television dramas.
The Idol, a much-hyped series that marked Jennie’s foray into acting, had generated considerable buzz prior to its premiere. As per reports in Pink Villa, on August 29, an announcement was made confirming the official cancellation of HBO’s controversial series The Idol. The show has come to an early end after just five episodes, falling short of its originally planned six-episode run. The Idol, is a collaborative project between The Weeknd and Sam Levinson the creator of another hit show Euphoria. The series premiered in June of this year.
The Idol delves into the shadows beneath the glamorous facade of Hollywood, centering on its main character, Jocelyn, portrayed by Lily Rose-Depp. Jocelyn, a fledgling pop singer, becomes entangled with the enigmatic cult leader Tedros, portrayed by The Weeknd.
Jennie portrayed the character DyAnne in “The Idol,” a role that was closely watched by both Blackpink fans and drama enthusiasts. As the show progressed through its single season, DyAnne’s character arc captivated some viewers while receiving mixed reviews from others.
