We are going through times of severe recession. This Eid we, therefore, get no Salman Khan. But we get Nawazuddin Shah instead.
While Salman’s scheduled Eid release Radhe: India’s Most Wanted Bhai has been postponed indefinitely, ZEE5, the digital streaming platform has wasted no time in finding an alternative entertainment source for the famished Eid audience.
The Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Ghoomketu, directed by Pushpendra Nath Misra (his OTT film Taj Mahal 1989 featuring Neeraj Kabi and Geetanjali Kulkarni was well-received last year) pending release for over two years will be the at-home Eid entertainer this year.
It is a film that Nawazuddin shot nearly four years ago. Nawaz plays a struggling writer in Bollywood. The actor has absolutely no problem with his film going on the digital platform. “It is the new normal I think. Sir, bahot waqt lagega abhi audience ko theatre waapas jaane mein(it will take the audience a long time to return to the theatres). Why not make the best use of such a rapidly growing platform after my most popular character on the OTT platform Gaikonde in Sacred Games.”
