Nikhil Madhok moves on from Disney Plus Hotstar

Sources inform that Nikhil Madhok has put down his papers

Here comes another exclusive industry breaking news from IWMBuzz editorial. We were the first to write about Ashish Golwalkar moving on from Set India.

Now, we have news that industry stalwart and one of the most astute professionals, Nikhil Madhok has resigned from his position at Disney Plus Hotstar. He was instrumental in building the originals line up at the streaming network.

When we buzzed Madhok, he said in confirmation:

“Building Hotstar Specials from scratch has been one of the most joyous and satisfying experiences of my professional life. The contribution these shows made to Disney + Hotstar’s explosive growth were a source of pride, but the best gift was the love and appreciation received from our viewers. The Emmy Award nomination was not bad either! During this time, I have had the good fortune of working with some incredible colleagues across the organisation and in particular with an extremely talented and passionate content team. I wish them the very best. At the same time, I am extremely excited about the next opportunity that has come my way and eagerly looking forward to sharing details in due course.”

We at IWMBuzz have a confirmed update that he’s now joined Prime Video Network and we wish him good luck going forward in this new journey. Prime Video continues to expand its Original content footprint in India across languages and genres. In its content upfront in April, the company showcased over 40 titles that will stream on the service in the next 18-24 months and we understand that there are 70 titles under production/ development.
Fortifying its senior leadership to complement the growth and expansion of its original content, Prime Video has confirmed the appointment of Nikhil Madhok as the Head of Hindi original content. He will report to Aparna Purohit, Head of India Originals who continues to lead the charge on developing original series and movies across multiple Indian languages.
