Three times National Award-winning actor Mithun Chakraborty recorded a special video on his biographer Ram Kamal Mukherjee.
Veteran Bollywood actor, mentioned Ram Kamal and his book Dada of Bollywood in a special video, while talking about his 20 years long relationship with the author, Mithun mentioned that he remembers Ram Kamal as a teenager who started journalism in Kolkata. “I have seen him growing as a human being, from journalist to editor of Stardust and now he is an author and filmmaker,” added Mithun.
Ram Kamal Mukherjee officially released his biography after presenting the first copy to Mithun Chakraborty on the set of his forthcoming reality show Hunarbaaz for Colors. Speaking about Mithun and his association with the Chakraborty family, Ram Kamal says, “Dada’s (Mithun) journey from bylanes of Kolkata to being India’s most loved iconic star, is nothing less than a thriller. I am grateful to Dada, Bhabhiji (Yogeeta) and his secretary Vijay Upadhaya ji, for supporting me in my endeavor. It was not easy to chronicle the journey without their inputs.”
Mithun further added, “I don’t like to talk about myself. I am have always maintained a very low profile. I am an actor and my work is to act. I am touched with Ram Kamal’s gesture, and I wish him all the best.”
Published by Rupa Publication, the cover of the book has been designed and shot by Vickky Idnaani, while the book has been edited by Chandrima Pal. Since Ram Kamal is a filmmaker himself, does he plan to adapt his own book into cinema? “I would love to make a biopic on Dada. But not without his consent. I know for a fact that Dada’s journey can be an inspirational film for those who feel that they cannot make it in this industry, primarily due to lobby and nepotism. Hope someday, I will be able to tell his story on screen, with due permission.”
Who can play Mithun on screen? “Well, I feel Ranveer Singh would be the best bet. Since he struggled to make an impact in this industry without any godfather. He is immensely energetic, versatile and fabulous dancer,” says Ram Kamal.
We can’t wait to see Mithun’s biopic on big screen. Studios listening?
