In this special IWMBuzz editorial, we speak to some of the most influential youth icons and talented artists of the country who talk about college romance.
Says Manjot Singh: “Know what, I have never been to college to talk about my crush, but I relived the experience of it in College Romance, be it bunking classes, eating in cafes, chilling out etc. The first season was loved and the second season too has a great script. From not going to a college to being called in one as a chief guest recently, the feeling is amazing. The show is a must-watch.”
The dynamic diva Urvashi Rautela says: “(smiles) Well, Elon Mask has been my forever crush for a long time. He is my inspiration and what I love the most about him is that he uses technology and business to solve real-world issues. It is something I would also love to do forward in the future. His ventures like PayPal, Space X & Tesla, are trendsetters and have revolutionized the world in a big way. He is a social entrepreneur and that’s one of the biggest qualities I like about him.”
Next is Shreya Mehta: “Well, I want to talk about College Romance 2. We shot during the pandemic with the dream cast. It was like a staycation and our bonding shows on screen. My role is more diverse this time and I hope the audience loves it. We have put our heart into the show and I really pray that it becomes a hit and we roll out season 3 soon. Amen.”
The immensely good-looking and inspirational Ranveer Allahbadia aka BeerBiceps adds: “College crushes and romances ended with a lot of heartbreak except for my final one in college which was a very serious relationship. It was beautiful and we felt like we could grow up together over those 4-6 years. I personally look back at it very positively and I’m still in touch with the person because she’s still a dear friend of mine, we have learnt a lot from each other and I’m glad that I took the call of dating back then.”
The dynamic dude Tanuj Virwani shares: “Oh man. College & college crushes seem like a lifetime ago. However, I do remember. There was this really cute looking girl who had curly frizzy hair. We were in the same college and we lived in the same area. I observed that she used to go to one particular coffee shop at 6pm. Obviously, that made me to there as well. I didn’t know anything about her. Slowly, we started exchanging glances and were going good. One day, my friend told me that “Bro, you should take your dog to the cafe. Girls love dogs.” I thought it was a lovely idea. I took my dog and everyone in the coffee shop came and petted him apart from her. I thought it failed. Then, I went up to her and asked whether she would like to pet my dog or not. She replied saying that she would love to but she didn’t yet because her friend was petrified. Eventually, we became friends and yeah, it was fun. (Laughs)”
Says Gagan Arora: “I started dating really early into my college life, I am a very romantic person and likewise I used to do all these extravagant gestures and spend a lot of time with my girlfriend. This one time it was her birthday and I had lied to my college theatre friends about attending to a home emergency to miss a stage performance and spend the day with her. And my luck be so…I ran into them at a mall later that day. After a lot of emotional guilt and me being tagged as a betrayer. I had to buy/ bribe lunch for 10 guys so that they won’t tell the other 20 and I won’t be kicked out of my dramatic team.
Says Apoorva Arora, “I don’t really have a college experience as I was home schooled but I am so glad that I could live the experience in the show through Naira’s character.”
The super talented BeYouNick aka Nick smiles and says: “A lot of people I know from my school college had such depressing stories when it comes to first love. Like the one that got away, the one that was taken and all. So sad and deep and depressing. Thankfully I didn’t have that kind of a story. Mine just didn’t know I existed. So no question of getting away and all. I guess that’s why I took to humour. Just to blend in (laughs).”
The talented and gorgeous Kanika Mann smiles, “Hahaha, there was no such personal crush experience while studying. In fact, I was too much into my books and studies that nobody actually proposed me. There was no romance, no crush, nothing during my college days. This was how my bachelor’s college life went about. When I was doing my Masters, I was simultaneously shooting for Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega.”
Next is dynamic Keshav Sadhna, “We all were excited for season 2 and the bonding with the cast was amazing. Season 1 was a super hit, we had pressure to live up to the audience’s expectations in season 2 and we are hopeful that audiences will love us this time too. It is a show where you will relive the true essence of college romance.”
The super-duper fit star Leenesh Mattoo says: “College experience for me was all about realising that maybe I am not meant to go the conventional way. It was the time I got into fitness as a hobby and explored my passion for being in front of camera. Love touched my life as soon as I entered college. First love is always special, full of passion and innocence. You dream of being together for a lifetime. Do everything to woo the girl you love. It was all about gifts, remembering special dates. I had the best girl in college beside me so never really had any crushes there.”
The immensely beautiful Radhika Bangia adds: “I studied in New Zealand and I had a secret crush for years on this cute Japanese guy in my class. I was very shy in college and I don’t know why but my aim was to not let the guy know about this secret crush! All I ever did was to find a seat which had a clear view of him! I wish I was more confident and expressive in college! Who knows what that secret crush could have led to.”
Such diverse and interesting stories, we must say!!! Wonderful experiences of all, indeed!!!
