The challenge in making Rashq was to create a lockdown short thriller that did not look like a lockdown shoot: Director Rajiv Walia

Rajiv Walia, a Writer and Director from New York City who already has an award-winning short film ‘Saho’ in his profile has now e-directed Rashq, a short film using storyboards inspired by Parasite’s Director Bong Joon-ho.

Rashq starring Bhuvan Arora, Pooja Bhamrah, Palak Purswani and Shishir Sharma can now be seen on the Pocket Films Channel on YouTube!!

Talking about his experience of shooting this short film during the lockdown phase, Rajiv who resides in New York states, “The concept for Rashq had to revolve around the COVID situation because in around May, I realized we are not going to be mobile for 6 months and above. Hence I started drafting a script where I could play around a one room set up!”

“I found talented actors and got help from few casting directors who pointed me to the right direction and resources,” he adds.

Sharing his personal experience of working with the cast, Rajiv expresses, “Working with Shishir Sir was seamless. Bhuvan and Pooja were veterans in their fields and Palak brought glamour to the table. Managing five locations and ensuring we capture the right shots was a challenge. But the real challenge was to create a lockdown short thriller, that does not look like a lockdown shoot.”
