I don't see other OTT platforms as competition: Amogh Dusad, Head Content, Partnerships and New Initiatives at SonyLIV

Amogh Dusad, who has a demonstrated history of working in leadership positions covering different facets of the broadcast media industry, is currently the Head – Content, Partnerships, New Initiatives – Digital Business at Sony Pictures Networks India.

In conversation with IWMBuzz.com at the trailer launch of Tripling Season 2, he spoke about SonyLIV’s new association with TVF and future plans..

Talking about the association, he said, “This is the start of the association. We intend to work with a lot of content creators. TVF is one of our partners now. As time progresses, we will have a lot more announcements and news of other shows and initiatives.”

He further added, “I personally liked the show, Tripling. Season 1 got a tremendous response. It has an amazing following, hence we thought that Season 2 would be a good one to send out a message at large about SonyLIV. It also gives viewers a sort of expectation of what is going to come on SonyLIV.”

When asked how he sees different platforms and web shows vis-a-vis competition to Sony LIV, he averred, “I don’t see other OTT platforms as competition, primarily because it is an industry that has just started. Consumers have just started consuming online content. We have more than 350 M viewers who are consuming content online, so I think there is enough scope for a lot more OTT platforms to come in. There are new content voices emerging and a lot of innovative storytelling, which is a welcome move, and I think it will stabilize in some time.”

He feels there should be a tabulating data that can measure online data. “I think at some point, the industry has to come together so that there should be an industry-wise measurement system where even advertisers and other industry stakeholders are able to see how well different pieces of content are performing. Right now, it’s a walled garden, but I am sure a lot of industry conversations are happening around finding a solution for it.”

Lastly, commenting on SonyLIV’s future plans, he said, “There are loads of things in store. Our calendar is locked with a lot of sports and football that will come this year. Partnership with TVF to stream Tripling Season 2 on SonyLIV is the first step in that direction. We intend to work with the best digital content creators in the industry and offer unique & remarkable stories to viewers. Just wait, there is a series of announcements that will happen. This is an ambitious year for us.”
