Dharmesh Shah the talented Director who has set up successful TV shows like Dharam Veer, Ek Veer Stree Ki Kahaani: Jhansi Ki Rani, Siya Ke Ram, Kaal Bhairav Rahasya, Veer Shivaji etc is presently busy directing Jai Maa Vaishnodevi for the web world.
As we know, Shiv Sagar is producing Jai Maa Vaishnodevi under his banner Sagar World. The series has a stellar cast that includes, Dipika Chikhlia, Rana Yashodhan Singh, Ishita Ganguly, Mahi Soni, Tarun Khanna, Siddhanth Issar and many others.
Says Dharmesh Shah, “Mythology shoot is always on a big scale. The series Jai Maa Vaishnodevi will be a series depicting the tale of Vaishnodevi. I always feel that mythological shows are concepts that can do well on the OTT platforms. The format of mythos and historicals is tailor-made for the medium of the web. In the series, we are touching base into all the eras, from the Ramayan, Mahabharat, to Kalki avatar. It will be a 10-episodes series. The story will start from Tretayug and will come till the 13th century.”
On working with Sagar World, Dharmesh Shah explains, “They are the pioneers when it comes to mythological concepts. It is wonderful working with them. Their Ramayan is working even today, during the lockdown.”
Dharmesh Shah says that it is high time the OTT medium depicted tales about positivity. “The medium of the web has got all the other shades of crime, romance, s*x etc. It is high time the OTT world shows more of the mythological concepts which spread positivity. Even on TV, if you see, a show like Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah which can be watched by people of all ages, is doing really well. Similarly, the OTT platform should also have shows that can be watched by people of all ages.”
Dharmesh Shah has a lot of new work in the pipeline. “There are a lot of offers coming for direction, especially on TV. I want to work as much as I can. I have been idle during the lockdown. We need to be at our job always. Like how a sportsman needs to be playing daily, we too are performing artists, and we need to work every day to evolve.”
The series Jai Maa Vaishnodevi has finished the shoot in Gujarat. The team will be leaving for Jammu and Kashmir for the next schedule soon.
Talk to him about the third wave of Covid likely to emerge, the Director states, “We are needed to take all precautions. However, the work has to go on now. We need to mask up, work in smaller units and get our work going. There is no alternative to work.”
Best of luck, Dharmesh Shah!!
