ALTBalaji’s upcoming series, Home directed by Habib Faisal seems to be a heart-wrenching family drama which speaks about the importance of shelter, amidst the backdrop of an apparent demolition of their home.
The series is Filmfarm India’s first project on the web space as Producer. Helmed by Pintoo Guha and Rupali Guha, the series will start streaming from 29 August on ALTBalaji.
In an exclusive conversation with IWMBuzz.com, Producer Rupali Guha talks about the importance of the concept and the making of the series.
Says Rupali, “The concept of Home was of Ekta Kapoor’s. After FilmFarm got in, it became a joint effort from our side to get the cast in place. Director Habib Faisal had the vision to take it forward. We had a 60 days schedule in various locations. It was great.”
Home has a stellar cast that includes Annu Kapoor, Supriya Pilgaonkar, Amol Parashar, Parikshit Sahni, Himani Shivpuri etc.
On the concept of Home, Rupali shares, “The concept is very evident from the title. It is about a home where the family stays, and where each one is going through their own individual crisis. And when an external crisis comes hitting at them, the manner in which they stand together and face it forms the crux of the story. The home is the place which gives maximum comfort to the family. The story is set against the backdrop of demolition which has been inspired by real life incidents.”
On the cast she states, “Huge credit goes to Habib for the kind of vision he had for each character. The characters themselves are very interesting. We had the Punjabi man married to a Maharashtrian woman. So Habib was very clear that the actors should be from the same background. Annuji was the only option that we looked out for, to play the role and it happened for us. He’s the backbone of the subject. Supriyaji, Parikshit Sahniji are power-packed performers. The three generations – Parikshit, Annu and Amol have their own viewpoints and stories of their own. However, when they are faced with this problem of their home being demolished, they tackle the crisis situation in their own way.”
“It is the first of Filmfarm venturing into web space. And it was the first for us to associate with ALTBalaji and work with Ekta Kapoor. As Producers, we were pitching for TV shows for the same time slot. Today, we are partners working on one show. So the partnership has been really fruitful in many ways. Home is an unexplored subject for us when it comes to TV. The drama quotient is on a different tangent, but this is a real space that we worked in. I don’t think TV allows us to be as real as this. This has been a huge learning process; I got a chance to see how Ekta works on her characters; there is so much to learn from her. I was also dealing with a film director for the first time, and the way he got into characters was also a learning. curve. So I feel I have begun my journey again,” she adds.
FilmFarm India will soon launch its next fiction show, Perfect Pati on &TV very soon.
Here’s wishing FilmFarm and ALTBalaji team all the very best for Home!!
