There are some personalities which have an aura of calmness candor, exuding warmth which builds bridges and fosters lasting blossoming bonhomie.
We are talking about Suparna Verma, the man of letters, who as a writer has 11 films to his credit, some of which are Janasheen (2003), Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena (2005), Love Story 2050(2008). He has directed Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena (2005), Acid Factory (2009) among others. Suparn.
In the web space, after tickling funny bones with Yo Ke Hua Bro, he is once again worn a directorial hat helming Viu India’s latest release Kaushiki.
“Kaushiki is a murder mystery and it promised to be engaging. Web has not really explored such a concept yet. It’s convoluted. The plot has lots of twists and turns and it’s homecoming for me as thriller is my pet genre. Watch it, guess it and enjoy. Each episode will leave you shocked and yearning for the next to stream,” says Suparna in a chat in a IWMBuzz.com.
The talented filmmaker has worked in all three mediums, movies, TV and web. On the different platforms, he says: “Web allows you more time to explore your creativity. You can tell a story holistically. TV, in comparison, brings in lot of changes. Movies also have its limitations whereas on web, one can tell different stories simultaneously..
Suparna further adds: “Digital is breaking global audience. At the recent IWM Digital Awards, Yo Ke Hua Bro won Best Comedy Show award. So the medium is evolving and growing at a rapid pace. It’s great to associate with Viu as the platform is one of the best in storytelling.”
Web means freedom and where there is freedom there is exploitation. So what about unnecessary usage of s*x and cuss? “Well, there are different perceptions on that. If the story needs it and it’s giving you views, then why not? But today we have more variety in content.”
In ending, Suparna says that he has explored all kinds of storytelling, however, ‘he is passionate about thriller and comedy’.
“But I am open to explore more as a director and storyteller,” ends he.
