British-Indian actress, Sapna Pabbi, is quite excited about her ongoing Zoom web series, Reunion. “What I like best is its relatable concept. Sometimes, we tend to go overboard in the climax. But here, we have dealt with everyday situations in metropolitan life.”
Coming to her character, she says, “Today’s girl, Arya Singh, is a bit selfish; she is lucky to be around in a time where gender restrictions are fewer, thereby allowing her to focus on her career and life. All in all, I found it to be light and fresh.”
She continues: “It was fun doing this project, for I had a great set of co-stars. I have worked with Anuj Sachdeva before, in Breathe. To be honest, I was most impressed with my director, Karishma Kohli (Assistant director of Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Tubelight). She knows exactly how to get the goods out of us. She is so chilled out that she will laugh if I am funny in a scene.”
Sapna seems to like the web. “Yes, this is my third tryst with digital. Having said that, I don’t really pay too much attention to formats. For me, the story and character are important. The hard work involved is same in either a film a web or an infinite TV show. We might start working on the sequel of The Trip very soon.”
How was the experience of doing Amazon Prime’s Breathe, which was a big hit? “Normally, we focus a lot on what goes in front of the camera, but technical aspects also go a long way to raise the bar. And here, the sound quality of Breathe was several notches higher.”
Interestingly, when we ask Sapna whether Reunion had any bold content, she quipped, “No comments.” There has been no bold stuff shown on the show until now.
She also refused to comment on the overdose of s*x and abuse on desi web per se, saying, “Since I am not part of any such show, I will not want to comment on others.”
Shifting gears to films,S apna has just finished shooting for her debut Punjabi film. Her big ticket Hindi flick, Drive, with Jacqueline Fernandez and Sushant Singh Rajput, will also hit theatres in September.“My film career is going great.”
Her earlier, John Abraham-produced Satra Ko Shaadi Hai, has been in the works for long.
