Television heartthrob Barun Sobti, who ruled hearts as Arnav in Star Plus’ popular show, Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, will be part of VOOT’s upcoming original series Asura. The series is a uniquely Indian, edge of the seat, psychological thriller which pits the less-explored world of forensic science against the mystical mythology of Benares.
Talking about the web-series, Barun shares, “Asura is psychological thriller series. There is a lot of cat and mouse game that will keep audience hooked to the show. I am playing the role of Nikhil, a forensic expert. The series deals with subconscious and psychological development of a serial killer’s mind instead of just doing surface level stuff. In the other thriller web-series, serial killers are portrayed as menaces but I think they are the victims of the society.”
He says, “We are yet to shoot for it. It will begin next month. I am really looking forward to it as this is the kind of stuff which really excites me in real life. I think the writing part will be the USP of the series and the twists will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.”
When asked sbout his take on web-series overtaking TV, he avers, “To be very honest, both have two different sets of audiences. I don’t think right now but eventually may be yes, TV might take over web-series.”
On an end note, he refutes rumours of being part of Kasautii Zindagii Kay reboot.
Good luck, Barun!
