Mismatched, Netflix India’s latest series, received mixed reviews; while some loved the characters and the tale it portrayed over its six-episode run, others thought it was just another coming-of-age rom-com. Regardless of whether people liked it or not, it is still one of the most-watched shows on Netflix right now. One of my greatest complaints with the show is that it only has six episodes and that the season finished way too soon. If you’re feeling empty, like I am, and want to switch to another show that will offer you similar feelings, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. So let’s take a look at some shows and movies on Netflix that you could watch

1. SEX EDUCATION – NETFLIX

Sex Education is certainly at the top of the list when it comes to coming-of-age shows. Sex Education is more than just a teen-sex comedy; it’s about a bunch of teenagers at Moordale High. Sex Education is a light, extremely relatable viewing with a great ’80s mood and music that improves the show completely. If you haven’t seen Sex Education yet, now is the time to do it. Seasons two and three have already aired, and season three is currently under development.

2. THE HALF OF IT – NETFLIX

Self-discovery is a common theme in coming-of-age shows. By the end of the film, our protagonist has usually discovered what is best for them. The Half of It is similar in that it follows Ellie Chu, a quiet but talented student who assists a school jock in wooing a girl in a small town. Half of it, like many other films in this genre, is a really relaxing experience to watch, with calming imagery and music.

3. A SUITABLE BOY – NETFLIX

Despite the fact that Mira Nair’s A Suitable Boy received mixed reviews, it is nevertheless a story of a group of people in the 1950s who are on a journey of self-discovery. While the characters are cartoonish and occasionally boisterous, A Suitable Boy sticks to the main plot and has enough parts to keep the audience engaged throughout the season. Ishaan Khatter, Tabu, and Tania Maniktala play significant parts in A Suitable Boy.

4. NETFLIX – LITTLE THINGS

Many of you, like us, are probably getting a ‘Little Things’ feel from Mismatched. Little Things was a pioneer in this genre on the OTT platform, and any new show or film will have to compete with it. Little Things, starring Mithila Palkar and Dhruv Sehgal, is a film about a couple who is living together and going through the difficulties and tribulations that any person in that situation goes through. Relationships are never easy; they need effort, which may explain why Little Things felt so familiar. If you haven’t seen it yet, I strongly advise you to do so as soon as possible after watching Mismatched.

5. WAKALAT FROM HOME – AMAZON PRIME VIDEO

During the early days of the epidemic, when the entertainment industry was temporarily shut down, Amazon Prime Video surreptitiously produced this charmingly offbeat but clumsily finished rendition of Wakaalat from Home. The show has its highs, but it also has its lows, as it tells the narrative of a couple going through their divorce hearing through a Zoom call. Overall, it’s a good watch, and if you’re looking for lighthearted and humorous Indian shows, this is one of them.

6. ATYPICAL – NETFLIX

When a young autistic adolescent starts out on a quest for love, it sets in motion a chain of events that have a deep impact on those around him. This lighthearted comedy is lively and entertaining, and it’s a fantastic way to pass the time. It’s a shame Netflix ended the show after three seasons, but the three seasons do present wonderful stories that will keep you interested.

7. DERRY GIRLS – NETFLIX

Derry Girls is about Erin Quinn and her pals growing up in a war-torn Ireland in the 1990s, and it’s one of the best coming-of-age shows on television right now. The conventional ways of Erin and her pals in the small town of Londonderry are not for them, and they frequently find themselves in trouble after breaking all the rules in order to enjoy life’s basic pleasures. Derry Girls, which has only two seasons so far, is a fantastic show that will keep you captivated and provide plenty of laughter for you to really enjoy the ride.
