Netflix launched an interactive film called Black Mirror: Bandersnatch in 2018 that allowed viewers to control how the plot develops. Despite receiving little publicity, the movie went viral on social media, with viewers from all around the world debating the various possible outcomes. Currently, Netflix is seeking to replicate the strategy in India with its first interactive program, Ranveer Vs Wild with Bear Grylls, to generate the same buzz that Bandersnatch achieved.

According to Andy Weil, vice president of comedy and interactive series at Netflix, “The special blends Ranveer’s humour and adventure with difficult survival tasks in the Siberian woods.” Interactive storytelling has the potential for multiple endings, whereas linear storytelling has a clear beginning, middle, and end. This is one of their main differences. Weil predicted that the audience would be able to direct Ranveer’s actions throughout. “A certain decision could take the plot differently, providing the spectator with a unique experience each time.

Re-watching the show allows one to discover new problems and moments missed the first time while also letting Ranveer make various decisions,” Weil continued. Viewers can choose what Ranveer Singh does at different stages in his show. When confronted by a bear in the wild, the actor might inquire whether he should play dead or dance for the bears, for example, or use a flare or a grapple gun for safety. “From a writing standpoint, placing the story’s choice points at appropriate intervals is crucial. According to Weil, the viewer should care about these decisions because they alter the course of the narrative.
