TVF has been the pioneer in the web series space: Udit Narayan

After announcing its second partnership with Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) for its upcoming dramedy web series ‘Yeh Meri Family’, The Viral Fever (TVF) has now released the first music video for ‘Yeh Meri Family’ – ‘Aisi Hai Hawa’. The legendary Bollywood singer Udit Narayan has lent his magical voice to the track, adding to the essence of 90s nostalgia of the web series. Vaibhav Bundhoo has composed music for this 5-track album.

The music video of TVF’s ‘Yeh Meri Family’ titled ‘Aisi Hai Hawa’ can be viewed here:

Vaibhav Bundhoo has previously composed music for superhit TVF shows such as TVF Pitchers, Permanent Roommates, Humorously Yours and ImMATURE (yet unreleased, official selection at Canneseries, April 2018).

Commenting on his maiden association with TVF, the evergreen singer Udit Narayan said, “Extremely delighted to have been able to work with the TVF team which is extremely passionate about the work they do. It feels good to have begun my journey when music was distributed on cassettes to now where everyone is consuming content on digital and TVF has been the pioneer in the web series space. Vaibhav’s music transported me back to the 90s and it was a pleasure working with a talented young music director like him. Would love to collaborate with him again.”

Sharing his experience of working with Udit Narayan, TVF’s music director Vaibhav Bundhoo said “The music for this show is extremely different from the electro-alternative rock and western cinema influenced kind of music that I have done so far and the very hip hop-oriented stuff I’m working on next. This is not even a recreation of 90s music. It is more how I would have made music for a Hindi film back in 1998, given the Bollywood influences of the time, and keeping in mind the sensibilities of today’s listeners. Although the palette of instruments of that era seemed restrictive, I realised that there was a cheat code: Back in 98, players like A.R Rahman had already entered the game doing radically different stuff. Dil Se came out that year; one of my favourite albums with only 5 songs on it. Euphoria’s Dhoom album also came out that year, another big influence for this soundtrack. I should also mention the undeniable influence of the impactful figures of Indian music such as Jatin-Lalit and Anu Malik. One of the most iconic voices of that era is Udit Narayan. There’s a handsomeness in his voice that takes you to that elevated state where you suspend your disbelief and just let yourself flow with that dreamy breeze and you can see that for yourself in #AisiHaiHawa.”

Set in Jaipur over the events of the summer vacation of 1998, Yeh Meri Family, the 7-episode web series revolves around the simplicity in conflicts, emotions and bonding of the five-member Gupta family. Starring Mona Singh and Akarsh Khurana playing the roles of the affable parents, ‘Yeh Meri Family is created and directed by Sameer Saxena (TVFs Chief Content Officer and also the creator of Permanent Roommates & Tripling) and written by Saurabh Khanna (Creative Director for Permanent Roommates S2).

Yeh Meri Family starts streaming on TVF Play website and App on 12th July
