According to Mathrubhumi, the tragedy occurred while the temple was preparing for the ‘Kazcha Seeveli’ ceremony. In Kerala temples, elephants are known to participate in daily worship ceremonies.

After receiving minor injuries, Swaminathan was taken to a hospital.

After more than an hour of effort, the elephant squad and social forest officers were able to bring Adattu Paramu under control. The temple’s ‘Deepasthambham’ was also damaged by the ferocious tusker.
