Two snakes can be seen spinning around each other in what social media users have dubbed a “love dance” in a video that has gone viral on the internet. But are the snakes genuinely doing that or just fighting? The video was posted to Instagram a few days ago by the user ‘helicopter yatra,’ and it has now gone viral, with over 14,000 likes.
Two snakes, each about eight feet long, can be seen slowly winding themselves around each other in the water, surrounded by lush flora. The snakes then take a brief respite before frantically twisting and whirling around each other and splashing the water.
The video has left internet users guessing whether the two snakes were mating, dancing, or fighting. While many people on social media thought it was a beautiful dance between a ‘naag and naagin,’ others pointed out that the snakes were not actually mating or dancing, but rather fighting over territory.
For the uninitiated, what most people referred to as a “mating dance” between two male snakes of the same species is actually a wrestling bout between two male snakes of the same species.
